Health Care

The best health care is right in our backyard

Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center (CTRMC)

The 300,000 sq. ft. Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center opened in December 2005 on an 80-acre medical campus that includes state-of-the-art facilities including the Cancer Center and Sierra Surgery & Imaging. The hospital is a 128-bed, community-based health care facility. CTRMC has 138 private patient rooms, 18 emergency room bays, and a rooftop helipad. With over 50 years of experience, Carson-Tahoe Hospital is dedicated to providing quality health care.

The Carson Rehabilitation Center is a full-service facility offering comprehensive rehabilitation services, physical, speech and occupational therapy, and a fully equipped gymnasium.

CTRMC employs over 185 physicians representing 25 specialties, and has emphasized medical staff recruitment and retention in order to provide quality care to the community. Over the past few years, Carson-Tahoe has expanded service lines in oncology, cardiology, radiology, and more.

The regional Cancer Center opened in early November 2006 and is the only center of its kind in Northern Nevada offering complete cancer services under one roof. The fully-furnished 15-unit Merrimer Cottages offer a home away from home for those living in the rural communities.

Additional Health Care Facilities
There are also several independent health care clinics, laboratories and medical facilities in Carson City offering urgent and family care services, and occupational medicine. The newest of these is the Eagle Medical Center conveniently located near the site of the Regional Medical Center.

Carson City cares for its older citizens in skilled care nursing homes and assisted living centers. Refer to the Business Directory for listings.

Pet Health Care
Residents of Carson City enjoy their pets and want good care for them as well. There is excellent veterinary care for large and small animals. See listings under Veterinary Services for the very best in pet health care.   A side benefit for living in this dry high desert mountain climate is the lack of fleas that can be such a nuisance to pets elsewhere. Dogs must be licensed.
