Carson City provides excellent human services to the community. The Senior Center has recently been updated and expanded and operates two apartment complexes housing only senior citizens within a certain income range. The Boys and Girls Club welcomes children before and after school and the Mentor Center of Northern Nevada, an offshoot of the club, serves at risk children. Hispanic Services is available to assist our Hispanic population; Friends in Service Helping (FISH) caters to the homeless; and Advocates to End Domestic Violence operates a strong program for abused woman and children. The city and state provide strong support to those in need of a hand up.
